A British contemporary artist needs an online shopfront update.
Katherine Palmers-Needham is a talented contemporary artist with over 20 years of experience producing custom art pieces that focus on colour, mark making and surface textures. After a 10-year break to raise her family, Katherine needed an updated portfolio website that was as visually stunning as the art she creates to properly showcase her work and reach a larger audience.
The brief
Our approach
We began with a fresh new logo font and colour palette, inspired by the cool tones and shades of blue in her artwork. We kept the logo clean and elegant, as an artist, Katherine’s name was her brand and this is what her audience should see.
The new website design was boosted into the present with an overhaul in presentation and navigation that was now both desktop and mobile friendly. It was important to keep Katherine’s website open, friendly, and personable, which is well reflected in photos of herself, her work, and the light yet informative content. Katherine also asked us to create a warm and friendly pop-up inviting her users to sign up for her emailing list where her audience can stay in the loop with important dates.
It was important that Katherine’s time was prioritised creatively, so she was thrilled to let us handle the regular website maintenance with our Care Plan option, from security to productivity, so that Katherine could stay focused on what she loves to do most!

“I felt supported the entire journey”
Somer Design have been amazing.
When you have been out of the art world, like I had, for 10 years – not only is your website in dire need of a re-working, but so is your brand, image, online style and understanding of your online target audience.
Caroline and her team help you with all these things and guide you through the whole process without it ever feeling stressful.
The team send weekly updates and reminders of what is needed and I felt supported the entire journey with regular zoom calls and prompt email replies.
I would recommend Somer Design to anyone who needed to set up a website or revamp an existing one – but more than that – to anyone who wants to understand their online market from a different, commercial point of view.
I just can’t wait to see what this new online presence brings me in 2022.
